Aesthetic Magazine, Music Vid, Tour
Hey. How are you?
I am on a train right now from Toronto to Montreal and it's nice. The coffee is decent and I bought these new headphones that sound amazing. I am zooming past a field and there is a single cow in it. I hope something nice is happening to you, wherever you are.
I've been travelling a lot this year. My sister fell in love with a great guy from Mumbai so we had her wedding in Goa; it was pretty beautiful. She lives there now so I miss her like crazy but I am happy that she found someone to celebrate life with.
I got to travel around India after that- Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur, Pushkar- lots of train travel through some very beautiful places. I also got to see Paris for the first time on my way home. I like being somewhere completely new because you are really with yourself- you have to see who you are when you don't have all your possessions with you, or your phone, or the other things that aren't what life is essentially about. Good for my soul and stuff.
My EP is still coming, don't worry- turns out once you make songs you still have to do stuff with them; videos, cover art, etc. I am actually loving this part because I have all these new ideas and songs, and am working on an album while those other things move ahead. I'm also looking forward to some time in LA, NY, and London this coming year. I'd love to play some more house shows and the usual venues as well so tell me if you have suggestions.
Follow me on Instagram to see what I'm up to.
- There was a nice thing in Aesthetic Mag about me.
- I like wearing clothes and I made a blog about that; it's called Mieke Wears Clothes.
- If you want my EP when it comes out, give me your email on my contact page and I'll send you a message when new stuff happens. I won't spam you- only love letters.
- Just so you know, my name is hard to spell; so I've simplified. My name for stuff is "Mieke" now. It's a german girl's name and a nickname I already have. Secretly it's also the name of the hot german girl in the beloved American classic film Eurotrip. It's pronounced "Meek-i" Like my last name but no "L." You'll get used to it, don't worry. Soon you'll see it on my site and things, so I'm just letting you know.
I'm listening to: Raising Sand, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Glass: Solo Piano, Phillip Glass. We Fall, Emile Haynie. also B.B.King and Donna Summer. Plus I recently saw Programm and Dirty Frigs play in Toronto- both great loud bands worth seeing live.
Anyway, my train is almost arriving but I wanted to say hi.
Thanks for being interested in my life.
